Bimini

Though Bimini is the closest point of the Bahamas to the U.S. mainland, in many ways, the island is a world away from the hectic pace of American life. Steeped in a storied, almost mystical history, Bimini has been a refuge for Prohibition-era rum runners and American writer Ernest Hemingway. Caribbean Indian legends speak of the Fountain of Youth existing in South Bimini, while in North Bimini, a pool called The Healing Hole, with its continuous flow of natural minerals fed into the pool by underground channels, is thought to have curative properties for those who visit. And some visitors believe the underwater rock formation known as Bimini Road may be evidence of the legendary lost city of Atlantis.
